What is this site?

Everyday Countdown shows live countdowns to more than 75 holidays and events across South Korea, the United States, Japan, China, Spain, France, Germany, Brazil, Russia, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia — from New Year, Christmas, Seollal and Chuseok to Thanksgiving, Chinese New Year, Songkran, Oktoberfest and Eid al-Fitr.

It also offers a world clock for 50 cities across seven continents and a custom D-Day maker that turns any personal date — a birthday, a trip, a wedding — into a shareable countdown link. Everything is free, requires no account, and is available in 12 languages.

How are dates and times calculated?

Each event counts down to midnight (00:00) in its own country's IANA time zone — Thanksgiving in America/New_York, Seollal in Asia/Seoul — with daylight saving time applied automatically. Worldwide events such as New Year and Christmas follow the country of the language you are viewing. If your device is in a different time zone, the page also shows the equivalent moment in your local time.

  • Fixed-date holidays: Gregorian calendar
  • Lunar holidays (Seollal, Chuseok, Chinese New Year, Tết, Mid-Autumn): Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute lunisolar tables, with Chinese/Vietnamese dates corrected in years when the new moon falls near midnight (e.g. the first lunar month of 2027 and 2028)
  • Easter-relative holidays (Carnaval, Good Friday, Orthodox Easter): Gregorian and Julian Easter algorithms
  • Weekday-rule holidays (Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, Oktoberfest opening day): computed every year
  • Islamic holidays (Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha): astronomical estimates, labelled 'estimated' until officially announced
  • Officially announced dates (e.g. Korea's Suneung exam): updated each year from official sources
